The City Council entered into a contract with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department that will increase the number of officers in the city.
The new contract will increase the number of patrol officers in the city, with three officers dedicated solely to enforcing the city’s traffic laws, and bring in a head of police services who will work out of City Hall to respond to the needs of the community.
The total number of patrol deputies assigned to the city under the new plan will increase from 14 to 19 and the number of sergeants supervising the deputies will be increased from two to three.
