Re “Legislator Calls for Sunshine Canyon Dump Audit,” March 29.
I am happy to see that a public official is finally inquiring into the overall appropriateness of placing a dump within yards of homeowners’ back yards. [Assemblyman] Scott Wildman, who chairs the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, was responsible for revealing the Belmont Learning Center fiasco. I applaud his efforts in this matter and hope that the truth is eventually revealed.
If the dump is safe, then [Browning-Ferris Industries] has nothing to fear by a state inquiry. In fact, they should embrace an audit which, in theory, would restore their good standing!
