SCC Seeks Approval for Switch to 8-Man Football

Southern California Christian, with only 10 healthy players on its football team, decided Tuesday to go from an 11-man program to eight-man, pending approval from the Southern Section.
“We are putting our athletes at extreme risk of injury,” SCC Coach Alan Degenhardt said. “We realize that for the benefit of the men on the field, it is in their best interest to go to an eight-man program.”
The Flames’ game against Covina Western Christian this Friday has been canceled. The rest of the schedule is week to week.
Said Degenhardt: “It’s been a difficult decision and we know it will be difficult to obtain approval.”
