Re “Pharmacists Try Old-Fashioned Profit Remedies,” Sept. 14.

In my experience with Curt Davison of Brand Buena Pharmacy in Ventura, I not only have received superior service but the costs of my medications overall have been less than they would have been had I bought them at a chain pharmacy--and believe me, I have checked.

My insurance company provided me with a card and a list of pharmacies where I might obtain drugs for the lowest cost. In comparing prices, Brand Buena Pharmacy has always charged less than the big chain pharmacies.

I also have confidence in Brand’s record and knowledge of my medical history. On one occasion, Mr. Davison pointed out to me that I was allergic to a particular medicine, a fact the doctor had overlooked when prescribing it for me.

I’ve even had occasions when the pharmacy was closed and I needed urgently to obtain a medication, and Mr. Davison came in and filled the prescription. This is service. I suspect that my experience is shared by others who deal with independent druggists.
