Quartz Hill 35, Canyon 14--The host Rebels scored the game’s final 21 points in a five-minute span of the fourth quarter to break open a tight game.
Quartz Hill (2-1) was led by running back Derrick Teal, who rushed 23 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Teal scored on runs of 55, 42 and 56 yards. He also threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jaysen Bluford.
Canyon (1-2) rallied from a 14-0 deficit to tie the game with 10:16 remaining. Running back Ryan Jones ran 30 yards to score Canyon’s second touchdown, and quarterback Julio DeLeon ran in a two-point conversion to tie the score.
