Rene Garcia threw for 116 yards and one touchdown in Bell-Jeff’s victory at Hart Park in Orange.
The visiting Guards (1-2) overwhelmed the host Flames (0-3) on offense and defense. Carlos Trujillo ran for 73 yards in 10 carries and scored three touchdowns.
The SCC offense never got going against a tenacious Bell-Jeff defense. Flame quarterback Alan Mendez was forced out of the pocket on almost every pass attempt. Mendez completed only five of 17 and had three passes intercepted.
Phillip Manzo had three catches for 23 yards for the Flames.
