Body Found Near Park Identified as Newport Man

Laguna Beach police have identified a 22-year-old Newport Beach man found dead Thursday morning near Alta Laguna Park as Cody B. Rickert.
Investigators have ruled out foul play in the death, said Sgt. Ray Lardie. A coroner’s report is expected in six to eight weeks.
Police said Rickert’s body was spotted by a Sheriff’s Department search helicopter after Rickert’s jogging companion notified authorities that Rickert had not returned home from an early morning run Wednesday. The two began jogging together but later separated.
Rickert had recently moved to Newport Beach from Oregon, police said.
