Sidney Guy Baxter; Minister, Funeral Planner

Sidney Guy Baxter, a retired minister and funeral planner at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, died at his home in Ojai on Thursday. He was 82.
Baxter was born April 17, 1917, in Natural Dam, Ark. When he was in his early teens, he moved to Santa Paula.
Later, he became a minister at the Four Square Church in Ojai until the mid 1960s.
For 20 years, he worked for Conejo Mountain Memorial Park as a funeral insurance preplanner. He retired about 1984, according to family friend Diana Carper.
Baxter was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Minnie.
He is survived by sons Ronald Baxter of Ojai, David Baxter of Portland, Ore., and Judy Baxter of Santa Barbara.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura.
