Diocese to Host Encounter Weekend for Latino Youths

The Diocese of Orange is sponsoring its third annual encounter weekend for young adult Latinos next week. Church officials expect more than 700 Catholics to attend the three-day event.
Javier Castillo, associate director of Latino youth and young adult ministries, said the purpose of the weekend is to prepare for the new millennium and discuss the church’s upcoming challenges. Participants will engage in workshops, role-playing activities and concerts.
The event costs $25, not including meals, and will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 2 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 at Marywood Center, 2811 E. Villa Real Drive, Orange.
