A woman on her way home from work was raped at knifepoint in Costa Mesa on Thursday night, police said.
The victim, 26, was walking north on Harbor Boulevard near Bay Street at 10:30 p.m. when the attacker approached her, threatened her with a knife and forced her into his car, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Frank Rudisill said Saturday.
The woman was driven to the parking area of an apartment building on the 2400 block of Maple Street, and raped inside the man’s car, Rudisill said.
The rapist then released the woman and drove off.
Police described the assailant as white, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with a buzz-type haircut and about three days’ worth of beard growth.
He was reportedly wearing a black plaid jacket, a black T-shirt and blue jeans.
The car was a green two-door model similar to a Honda Del Sol.
