Buena 27, Rio Mesa 3--Kyle Loughman threw two touchdown passes and D.J. Blackledge ran for two more scores at Ventura High.
Buena (1-1) scored on its opening possession when Loughman threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Cody Murphy.
Rio Mesa (1-1) scored midway through the second quarter when Mike Alexander connected on a 41-yard field goal.
Loughman teamed with Daniel Allen on a 48-yard scoring strike for a 14-3 halftime lead.
Loughman completed seven of 14 attempts for 125 yards.
Buena broke open the game with 13 points in the first three minutes of the third quarter.
Blackledge scored on an 86-yard run on the first play of the third quarter.
After an interception and a 22-yard return by Garret Oltz in the third quarter, Blackledge scored four plays later on a four-yard run.
Oltz finished with 175 yards in 10 carries.
