More Beattys, Fewer Khachigians

* The shrill right-wing wail of Kenneth L. Khachigian can be heard, berating Warren Beatty for being a self-admitted “old-time, unrepentant, unreconstructed, tax-and-spend, bleeding-heart die-hard liberal Democrat” (Nov. 7 column).
Beatty having called for attention to those whose needs have been ignored, Khachigian snidely notes that Beatty, a rich man, hardly qualifies as one of those left behind.
It obviously irritates the columnist that a man with money should not be a right-wing conservative like himself.
But I would rather be with someone who takes an unselfish position regarding a problem (higher taxes could not favor Mr. Beatty) than listen to a selfish right-wing flack. We need more Beattys, fewer Khachigians.
