Mustang Women Masterful Again, 75-66

Forward Lesley DuBois had 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists to help The Master’s College to a 75-66 women’s basketball victory over Fresno Pacific Tuesday night at Master’s.
Guard Sara Scheffer contributed 17 points and four assists for the Mustangs (5-0), who are off to their best start in school history.
Forward Teresa Kamps had 23 and four assists for Fresno Pacific (1-1).
Pepperdine 70, New Zealand 66--Damaris Hinojosa, the Times’ Ventura County player of the year last season, had 15 points and three steals for the Waves in an exhibition game at Pepperdine.
Hinojosa from Moorpark High, selection during her prep career at Moorpark made three of five three-pointers.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Ventura 100, San Bernardino 83--Desmond Penigar scored 29 points for the Cougars in a victory at Ventura.
Mike Page added 23 points for Ventura (2-0).
Oxnard 75, Canyons 68--Chris Massie had 27 points and 13 rebounds, and Omar McCarter scored 24 points for the Condors in a victory at Oxnard (3-1)
Nana Gbewonyo, from Kennedy High, had 24 points for the Cougars (0-2).
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Canyons def. Bakersfield, 15-11, 15-9, 15-12--Sharon Foster had 20 kills with 10 digs and the Cougars clinched the Western State Conference Southern Division title at Bakersfield (10-9, 5-4).
Jamie Foster added 10 kills and 11 digs for Canyons (15-4, 9-0).
Ventura def. Moorpark, 16-14, 15-13, 10-15, 15-11--Toni-Ann Merendino had 19 kills, five aces and 23 digs for the Raiders (10-8, 4-5) in a WSC Northern Division match at Moorpark.
Ventura is 15-1, 8-1.
UC Santa Barbara def. Pepperdine, 15-12, 15-12, 15-13--Roberta Gehlke had 21 kills and the Gauchos (23-5) snapped the Waves’ 10-match winning streak at Pepperdine.
Stacy Rowenhorst had 12 kills for Pepperdine (21-3).
