Saddleback’s Ward Wins State Golf Title

Karlie Ward of Saddleback made a birdie on the first playoff hole to win the individual title at the community college women’s golf championship Monday at Auburn Hills in Auburn.
Ward and Fullerton’s Hye-yoon Jung had tied at 156 after two rounds. Ward, a freshman from Capistrano Valley High, won the tournament by making a 10-foot birdie putt on a par-five.
“My goal was to finish in the top 10 so I’m really pleased,” Ward said.
Mt. San Antonio (671) won the team title with Modesto (702) second and Orange Coast (709) third.
