Newport Harbor, the county’s top-ranked team in boys’ water polo, was seeded No. 2 behind Long Beach Wilson in the Southern Section Division I playoff pairings.
The Sailors (23-2) will host Long Beach Millikan in a first-round game Thursday. South Coast League champion El Toro, which plays Canyon Thursday, is seeded third.
Servite, ranked sixth in Orange County, was the only county team to receive a top seeding. The Friars, champions of the Serra League, will open defense of their Division II title Friday against the winner of today’s wild-card game between Sonora and host Santa Ana.
In Division VI, Brea Olinda, the fourth-seeded team, will host the winner of today’s wild-card game between La Quinta and La Puente.
