The Ojai Music Festival begins Wednesday and ends next Sunday, with concerts, art exhibits (contemporary Finnish glass and ceramics) and other events. (805) 646-2053.
Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., Ojai Art Center The Toimii Ensemble presents works by Oliver Knussen (world premiere), Lindberg and Schwitters.
Friday, 8 p.m. The Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by Salonen, with Laura Claycomb (soprano) and Anssi Kartunnen (cello), presents works by Salonen (U.S. premiere and world premiere), Lindberg (U.S. premiere) and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1.
Saturday, 2 p.m., Libbey Bowl Olli Mustonen recital (preludes and fugues by Bach and Shostakovich)
Saturday, 8:30 p.m., Libbey Bowl Los Angeles New Music Group, conducted by Salonen, with Anssi Kartunnen (piano) and Thomas Stevens (trumpet), presents works by Harrison, Saariaho and Adams.
Next Sunday, 5:30 p.m., Libbey Bowl The Toimii Ensemble, conducted by Salonen, with Olli Mustonen (piano), presents Lindberg’s “Kraft” (U.S. premiere) and Schumann’s Piano Quintet.
