Fountain Valley Woman, 72, Dies After Being Found Bound, Beaten

A 72-year-old woman died Wednesday after being found tied, gagged and beaten in her Fountain Valley home, police said.

Rop Do was discovered by her teenage grandson about 2:30 p.m. in her bedroom on the 11500 block of Iris Avenue, authorities said. The grandson summoned police, who took the woman to a local hospital, where she died a short time later.

“We have no suspects,” said Sgt. Jim Perry of the Fountain Valley Police Department.

Perry would not say what was used to bind the woman, describing the weapon used to beat her only as a “blunt instrument.” He would not confirm reports that the house appeared to have been ransacked.

Jackie Stone, who lives across the street from Do, said she was home most of the day with her front door open but did not see or hear anything.

“I spent part of the day in my frontyard, watering,” she said. “It’s kind of odd that anybody would do that, because my door was wide open. I won’t do that again.”
