Brea Olinda trustees this week unanimously approved revisions to the district’s academic dishonesty and cheating policy to include a section for computer tampering. Students caught using computers to improve their grades or change attendance records could now face criminal prosecution. In addition, any student caught tampering with computers to change their academic status will be suspended for five days and stripped of all academic honors.
The revision comes nearly a year after a Brea Olinda High School valedictorian was stripped of his title for breaking into his teacher’s computer and altering his English grade from a B to an A.
