The City Council recently approved the 1999-2000 Public Service Agency Grant Program allocations recommended by the Housing and Community Development Advisory Board. The council had earlier approved the 1999-2000 Community Development Block Grants, funded by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, but did not approve $65,250 in federal funding for individual public-service organizations. Instead, the council asked the advisory board to consider giving more money to Fountain Valley youth programs. The advisory board voted against changing the budget, arguing that a third of the grants, $21,500, is already allocated to youth programs.
