The Real First ‘Flight’

John Henken’s April 19 review of the Weill-Brecht cantata “Lindbergh’s Flight” noted Soli-Tutti’s performance as the West Coast premiere.
It may very well have been the premiere of the full orchestral version, but in 1988, director Michael Kantor and I presented a fully staged version of “Lindbergh’s Flight” at Montgomery Field in San Diego as part of Sushi Performance Gallery’s Neofest.
Had we been given a larger budget, we would have presented the work with an orchestra, but, alas, I had to arrange the cantata for a small ensemble.
