The City Council this week gave a preliminary endorsement to sweeping changes in the city’s decades-old gas station laws, potentially clearing the way for convenience-mart service stations to be built. The council gave its nod to the first reading of a new ordinance that will represent the first substantial revision to the city’s gas station laws since 1972. The ordinance is slated for final approval at the council’s next meeting, May 24.
