Sheriff’s detectives called to the remote hills in an unincorporated area of Chatsworth found decomposed human remains Monday afternoon, authorities said.
A resident riding his horse nearby came across the remains about 3:30 p.m. and notified sheriff’s detectives, who were dispatched to the 12100 block of Brown’s Canyon Road, according to Sheriff’s Deputy Margarita Velazquez.
At the scene, Lt. Dennis Curren said investigators could not immediately determine the sex, identity or race of the remains. Los Angeles coroner’s officials will make those determinations.
