More than a dozen nonprofit groups will be raising money at the city’s 19th annual Band in the Park fair, a celebration of music and art. Sunday’s event, sponsored by the Fine Arts and Cultural Affairs and Parks and Recreation commissions, also will have a children’s activity center with a petting zoo, giant slides and pony rides--all for free. While music and entertainment also are free, the nonprofit groups will be selling food and other items at display booths during the event.
Performers during the event, which runs from 2 to 6 p.m. at Laurel Park, include the Floyd & the Fly Boys jazz group, McAuliffe Middle School choral group and Dance Factory Show Group. Fifth Amendment, a group of local lawyers, will play oldies rock ‘n’ roll. City employee Matt Roberts will sing the National Anthem.
The park is at Katella Avenue and Bloomfield Street. Information: (562) 430-1073.
