A kindergarten class at McPherson Magnet school has won first place in the K-6 mathematics division of the 33rd annual California Student Media and Multimedia Festival. Proud Orange Unified School District trustees, new district Superintendent Barbara Van Otterloo and parents honored the students with a cake and ice cream reception at a recent school board meeting. “They’ve worked hard all year long,” said teacher Susan Losi-Huber. “I was proud they put that knowledge to use to come up with a product that was worthy of being first place in the state.”
The students created computer-generated slides using KidPix software to demonstrate their understanding of symmetry.
