More Rain Hampers Flood Relief Efforts

From Times Wire Reports

Heavy rains are frustrating rescue and relief efforts in Bangladesh’s flooded Comilla district, where nearly 70,000 people have been sent to shelters. Officials said rains that had stopped before the weekend returned Monday, adding to the misery of about half a million people taking the brunt of the flooding after the Gomti River breached an embankment in the village of Ebderpur 10 days ago. Ebderpur is 70 miles southeast of the capital, Dhaka. Officials say more than 100,000 people are homeless due to the flooding.
