Pulver Pushes Villa Park Past University

Villa Park, ranked second in the county in girls’ water polo, escaped with a 7-6 victory over eighth-ranked University after Kristyn Pulver scored the winning goal with six seconds remaining in a nonleague game Friday at University.
Pulver scored six goals for the visiting Spartans (19-1), who led, 6-4, after three quarters before the Trojans tied it, 6-6.
Hayley Sudieth scored five goals for University (11-7).
In other nonleague games:
No. 3 Newport Harbor 7, Foothill 3--Jocelyn Mandarino and Kyndra Cox each scored three goals for host Newport Harbor (12-3). Jackie Pirro scored two goals for Foothill (8-6).
Huntington Beach 8, Trabuco Hills 2--Jennifer Kikawa scored three goals for Huntington Beach (5-11).
San Clemente 5, Los Alamitos 3--Courtney Thom scored twice to lead San Clemente (10-7).
In the Santa Ana Valley girls’ water polo tournament:
Saddleback 13, Kennedy 4--Senior Angelica Romeo scored seven goals in the pool-play victory for Saddleback (4-8). In another tournament game, Romeo scored three goals to help Saddleback defeat Santa Ana, 9-3.
