Lynch Commits to San Diego State

Mike Lynch, a tight end from St. Francis High, has committed to San Diego State.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder had 15 receptions for 162 yards and five touchdowns for the Golden Knights.
BASKETBALL
LeAnne Bennett, a freshman forward, has quit the Cal State Northridge women’s team after playing a limited reserve role.
Last season, Bennett played at Ribet Academy and averaged 39.8 points, a Southern Section season record.
The region is well represented in the state community college south region basketball polls.
In men’s rankings, Glendale moved up two places to No. 4 and Valley moved into the poll at No. 10.
In women’s rankings, Ventura dropped one spot to No. 3, Canyons dropped one place to No. 6, Valley dropped two spots to No. 9 and Moorpark moved up one to No. 12.
SURFING
Nathaniel Curran of Oxnard won the open juniors division (13-15) of the National Scholastic Surfing Assn. Southwest Conference tournament last weekend at Huntington Beach Pier.
MOTOR SPORTS
M.K. Kanke of Granada Hills finished second Sunday in the season-opening NASCAR Southwest Series main event at Tucson Raceway Park.
Kanke, who started 22nd in the 29-car field, finished 2.476 seconds behind Tom Sweatman of Cosmopolis, Wash.

Registration for North Valley Youth Baseball (ages 4-14) will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at 13100 Balboa Blvd. in Granada Hills.

Registration for Saticoy Little League for boys and girls 5-16 is scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Huntsinger Park in Saticoy.
Fees are $30 for the Challenger Division, $40 for the Pre-T Division, $60 for T-ball through 12 years old, and $75 for 13 and older.
