Winners of the Tustin Unified School District’s 1999 “Astounding Inventions” contest, held last week at C.E. Utt Middle School, have been announced. The 24 student inventors will now enter Irvine Valley College’s “Astounding Inventions” competition on Jan. 23.
The five first-place winners: Kara Gage of Tustin Memorial Academy for her “Seatbelt Extender”; Tustin Memorial Academy’s Carin Montelongo for the “Ice Pack Cap”; Johanna O’Connor of Tustin Memorial Academy for the “Wagon Handle Extender”; Arroyo Elementary’s Ali Kaslow for the “Light Up Purse”; and Jeane Thorman Elementary’s Jacqueline Suarez for the “First Aid Belt.”
