Dancer’s Death
* Your readers should know something about Maria Isabel Fernandez, whose sudden death was reported on Feb. 9 (“Boyfriend Sought in Stabbing Death of Girl, 17”).
Maria Isabel was a flamenco dancer with unlimited potential, and her death has shattered the small and closely knit Los Angeles flamenco community. A frequent performer at Alegria, in Long Beach, she captured the hearts of all who saw her dance. A young woman whose artistry washed away the dust of everyday life, Maria Isabel was that rare person who was utterly without a need to hurt. She will be missed terribly.
