Pepperdine Loses to Santa Clara, 66-52

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Darrell Teat scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds as Santa Clara defeated Pepperdine, 66-52, on Sunday to move into a second-place tie with the Waves in the West Coast Conference.
Nathan Fast scored 15 points and Alex Lopez had 12 for Santa Clara, 12-12 overall and 8-4 in the conference. The Broncos also extended their winning streak to a season-high five games.
Marc McDowell scored 12 points to lead Pepperdine (17-10, 8-4), which has lost three of its last four games.
Santa Clara’s victory also clinched the WCC title for Gonzaga.
The Broncos opened the second half with a 13-2 run, giving them a 34-32 lead with 15:39 left.
The lead seesawed until the Broncos put together a 12-3 run to go ahead 56-49 with 3:12 left.
Todd Wuschnig converted a three-point play with 4:56 remaining to give the Broncos the lead for good.
Pepperdine led, 30-21, at halftime.
