As part of National Child Safety Week, Los Angeles police will donate child car seats to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Sherman Way Campus on Monday.
Officer Norman Kellems of the Valley Traffic Division will deliver three child seats to the parents of babies born today, said hospital spokeswoman Rosanne Morrison. The hospital also will donate baby seats to needy parents of other children born today, she said.
The $150 donation, sponsored by the Police Officers of Los Angeles County Assn., will help low-income parents who cannot afford new car seats or are using outdated ones, Morrison said. By law, parents must have car seats before hospitals may discharge their babies.
