Pacific Chorale, Symphony Given $1,124,000 in Stock

Newport Beach arts philanthropists Mary and Phillip Lyons have given the Pacific Chorale and the Pacific Symphony a total of 18,500 shares of Motorola stock, the organizations announced Wednesday.
The chorale received 10,000 shares valued at $607,500. The orchestra received 8,500 shares, valued at about $516,500. Both organizations sold the stock Jan. 4, they announced.
The Lyons stipulated that a minimum of $500,000 be placed into each organization’s endowment fund. The gifts bring the chorale’s endowment to $1.25 million and the orchestra’s to $4.1 million.
Mary Lyons has been on the chorale’s board for 18 years.
Phillip Lyons has served on the orchestra’s board for seven years and is on its executive and finance committees.
