False Alarm Story

I found your Feb. 1 story on false alarms to be alarmingly false. To say that it costs Huntington Beach $1 million per year to respond to false alarms is ridiculous. If alarms were banned throughout Huntington Beach, do you think the city would lay off any police officers? At least false alarms actually get them seen within the neighborhoods. They still find plenty of time to harass skateboarders, jaywalkers and curfew scofflaws. The city may publicly bellyache about having to respond to false alarms, but secretly they’re grinning from ear to ear at having found another revenue source: false alarm charges and permit fees.
