California Amplifier in Camarillo said that sales for its third quarter ended Nov. 27 increased 171% to more than $26 million, up from $9.6 million for the third quarter last year.
Third-quarter net income was $1.5 million or 12 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $205,000 or 2 cents per share for the third quarter last year.
“The company’s sales and earnings growth in the third quarter was a reflection of continued demand in North America for our DBS satellite television products,” said California Amplifier CEO Fred Sturm.
Sturm said the quarter-to-quarter sales growth resulted in additional manufacturing costs related to overtime, as well as start-up costs for additional capacity being brought on line in the Camarillo facility.
