Fountain Valley’s new City Yard project on Mount Herrmann Street has hit a snag, city officials reported. The contractor found unstable soil and debris at the site, as well as concrete footings, forcing the city to pay another $122,000 for additional work.
The ground will have to be stabilized before any building construction can begin, officials said. Workers also will have to demolish the footing so that plumbing and a fire line can be installed.
Once construction is completed, the city will relocate its yard operations from its current site on Ward Street.
