The City Council voted last week to spend $58,000 on a traffic signal at Chapman Avenue and Melody Lane.
Council members put a rush on the project, out of concern for pedestrians crossing Chapman Avenue to get to and from the shopping center across from Kraemer Park.
Macadee Electrical Construction is expected to start work on the pole foundations and underground conduits in January so that the signal can be installed as soon as it arrives in February. The project will cost $40,500 in labor and about $17,400 in materials.
