Oxnard Teen Found Shot in Burning Automobile Dies

EL RIO — An Oxnard teenager died Friday, one day after he was pulled from a burning car after being shot in the head, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Fire crews responding Thursday night to reports of a burning vehicle on Cortez Street in El Rio spotted a youth later identified as Ezequiel Francisco Miramontez, 17, slumped inside with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he died.
Results of an autopsy conducted late Friday were pending. Sheriff’s investigators are treating the case as a homicide, but did not disclose other details of their investigation.
