Balanced Grant Rolls to Bell-Jeff Title

Proving there is life after the graduation of All-City guard Gilbert Arenas, Grant High won its first tournament since 1992 Tuesday night with a 67-48 victory over Bell-Jeff in the championship game of the Bell-Jeff boys’ basketball tournament.
Ryan Logan made five three-point baskets en route to 17 points and Mike Charleston had 15 points and nine rebounds. Tournament most valuable player DeWayne Anderson scored 10 points for the Lancers (8-1), who outscored Bell-Jeff, 16-1, in the final 4:30.
Carlos Arroyo scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds for Bell-Jeff.
The Lancers wore down Bell-Jeff (7-2) with their pressure man-to-man defense. Grant also benefited from the rebounding of Charleston, a 6-foot-5 junior, and 6-5 senior Krishna Evans.
