Quartz Hill tournament--Highland had six individual champions and the Bulldogs captured the team title at Quartz Hill High.
Mike Estrada of Highland was picked the most valuable wrestler for the lower weights. He had nine pins in the first period and a 3-1 victory over Travis Westberg of Antelope Valley.
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 2 in the region by The Times, defeated Quartz Hill, 50-28, to clinch the title.
On Friday, Highland gave coach Mike Young his 400th career victory by defeating Barstow, 48-30.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Florida 73, Pepperdine 70--Rasheeda Clark scored 20 points but the Waves couldn’t hold a 15-point halftime lead and lost in the Oakland Tribune tournament at Berkeley.
Pepperdine led at halftime, 39-24, but Clark had only five points in the second half. Tombi Bell scored four points in the last 28 seconds for Florida (6-1).
The Master’s 64, CS Los Angeles 60--Lesley DuBois scored 22 points and Karen Gormley had 12 points and nine assists for the Mustangs (9-5) in a nonconference victory at The Master’s.
Kelli Kobayashi, from Alemany High, scored 11 points for CS Los Angeles.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 91, Chapman 70--Danny Sweeney scored 30 points on 10-of-13 shooting and the Kingsmen made 58% of their shots in a victory at Chapman.
Pastor Cuenca had 16 points and Victor Esquer added 13 for Cal Lutheran (4-2).
