Sonora Tops Estancia to Claim Championship

Junior guard Brandi Davis scored 28 points, leading Sonora to a 58-46 victory over Estancia in the championship game of the Mission Viejo Jim Hill girls’ basketball tournament.
Davis was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Teammate Cathy Ngo added 11 points for the Raiders, who led, 33-20, at the half.
Forward Lauren Cassity led Estancia with 18 points and was selected to the all-tournament team. Xochitl Byfield had 11 points for the Eagles.
In the third-place game:
Corona del Mar 73, Cerritos Whitney 28--Kristen McCoy scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds for Corona del Mar (6-3). Andrea Gruber had 11 points and five assists for Corona del Mar.
