The Discovery Science Center is wrapping up a weeklong celebration of its first birthday in the Santa Ana location this weekend with loads of activities for children and adults. Activities include demonstrations of a Tesla coil and a Van de Graff generator, and a take-apart afternoon where kids can dismantle computers, fax machines and other items. Santa will make special visits from noon to 1 p.m. when he will help sing “Happy Birthday” to the center and will climb the 115-foot-tall cube and wave to motorists on the adjacent Santa Ana Freeway. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is at 2500 N. Main St. Information: (714) 542-2823.
