Bergen Brunswig Signs $1-Billion Pact

Bergen Brunswig Corp., the third-largest U.S. drug wholesaler, said it signed a five-year, $1-billion contract to supply pharmaceuticals and other health-care products to Duane Reade Inc., New York City’s largest drugstore chain.
The contract will generate about $200 million a year in new sales for Orange-based Bergen Brunswig, which had $17.2 billion in revenue last fiscal year.
Shares of Bergen Brunswig rose 19 cents to $8 in New York Stock Exchange trading, while shares of New York-based Duane Reade’s stock fell $1.81 to $20.69.
