Getting It Wright

Regarding Russ Parsons’ quote (in “Nutty Days,” Nov. 3), “You’ve all heard the old gag about California: When God created the world, he tilted the Earth and all the nuts rolled here”: I believe it was Frank Lloyd Wright. What he said was (paraphrased) if you tilted the U.S. on edge, everything loose would land in L.A. He was talking about the eclectic architecture of the area. It has since been handed along (like in that game where the story gets told from person to person and gets changed in the process), and distorted for the immediate needs of the various people who use it.
Wright never mentioned nuts.
