Stewart helped the Sailors finish the season undefeated, rushing for 159 yards and a touch-
down in 33 carries in Newport Harbor’s
19-18 victory over Irvine in the
Southern Section Division VI championship game Friday at Orange Coast College. Stewart, whose 18-yard scoring run in the third quarter helped start the Sailors’ winning rally, finished with 2,380 yards rushing this season.

Cox, one of the county’s best all-around players, earned MVP honors at the Villa Park tourna-
ment last weekend, helping the Sailors, the top-
ranked
team in the
county,
win the
champi-
onship. Cox had two goals, three steals and an assist in a 4-3 victory over third-ranked Villa Park in the final. Cox had six goals and four steals in a 10-7 victory over Carlsbad in the semifinals.
