*Calvin Bell, a receiver from Simi Valley High, has committed to Michigan. Bell visited Ann Arbor this past weekend and made his decision.
* James Bethea, a running back from Cleveland High, has committed to California.
VOLLEYBALL
* Three Harvard-Westlake High girls’ players were All-Southern Section selections.
Courtney Schultz, Ashley Julian and Kelly Ayers were first-team Division III selections for the Wolverines, who lost to Bishop Montgomery in the Division III-AA final.
Other first-team selections included:
In Division I, Michaela Skelly of Royal;
In Division II, Lauren Mills of Westlake;
In Division III, Kelly Gaudino and Tracy Neumeier of La Canada, and Sarah Braga of Notre Dame;
In Division IV, Ashlie Hain of La Reina;
In Division V, Jenna Meyers of Thousand Oaks Hillcrest Christian, Darby Stern of Viewpoint and Cicely Carew of Campbell Hall.
TENNIS
* Former Rio Mesa High standouts Mike and Bob Bryan of Camarillo defeated Cecil Mamiit and Scott Humphries, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1, to win the doubles championship at the U.S. Tennis Assn. Challenger tournament Sunday at the Burbank Tennis Center.
Mamiit defeated Alex O’Brien of Amarillo, 7-5, 6-3, in the singles final.
