El Camino Real Rallies for Tournament Victory

El Camino Real High’s wrestling team overcame an eight-point deficit and defeated Camarillo, 34-32, to win the Camarillo 10-way tournament on Saturday.
Chris Sloan decisioned Jeff Nice, 18-8, in the 215-pound bout and heavyweight Shaheen Jahangard was awarded a forfeit to give the Conquistadores, ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times, the victory.
Camarillo was left without a heavyweight when Mike Kohr was taken to a hospital to receive stitches after suffering a cut to his upper lip in a preliminary match.
The No. 5 Scorpions led, 32-24, after Ralph Garcia’s 2-0 decision over Jamar Cargo at 189 pounds.
Jahangard, Edward Lemus (125 pounds) and Moshe Levi (140) won individual titles for El Camino Real.
Camarillo got first-place finishes from Hank Robles (103), Isaac Medina (145), Tyler Nielson (160) and Garcia.
Lorne Berfield won the 130-pound title and Matt Javid won at 135. Unranked Agoura finished third.
