That was indeed a day to remember as the Dec. 2 Countdown to 2000 article about Anthony Davis relates. Six touchdowns in one game. Outstanding!
However, I am having a little problem with the fact that he returned both “the opening and second-half kickoffs for touchdowns.” I’ve been refereeing high school football for 29 years now, and unless they had a different rule back then, the receiver of the opening kickoff would kick off in the second half. How did Davis return both kickoffs?

Editor’s note: He didn’t. Davis returned the opening kickoff 97 yards and another for 96 yards late in the third quarter.
