* Re “Assembly Contenders Take Issue With DWP Mailing,” Political Briefing, Nov. 25.
The Department of Water and Power under the leadership of S. David Freeman ought to be renamed the Department of Wasteful Practices.
Assembly candidate Jayne Shapiro is right in accusing her opponent, Freeman, of using taxpayers’ dollars to promote his Assembly candidacy. While green power is a wonderful program, the Freeman mailer is nothing more than a campaign promotion disguised as official business.
Freeman’s claim that it is cheaper to mail the entire ZIP code instead of spending money for sorting out customers outside the city is preposterous. One would think that the DWP, which has no problem mailing bills to customers, would know which residents and business are in the city of Los Angeles.
Come on David; admit you made a mistake and reimburse your ratepayers.
