Nearly $400,000 in federal funds will be available next year for Ventura County nonprofit organizations under an emergency food and shelter program.
To qualify, nonprofit governmental or private organizations must have an accounting system and conduct annual audits, practice nondiscrimination and demonstrate the ability to deliver emergency food or shelter programs. If the organization is private, it must have a voluntary board.
The local Federal Emergency Management Act board will distribute the money to help expand food and shelter programs in areas of the county where it’s most needed.
Interested organizations may contact Beverly Viola with the United Way at 485-6288, Ext. 226.
Applications are also available at the United Way office, 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 100, Camarillo, 93010. Applications must be received by noon Wednesday.
