Cleveland 81, South Gate 67--Anthony Davis scored 24 points and had 16 rebounds to help the Cavaliers (1-0) overcome 29 turnovers in a nonleague game at Cleveland.
Cleveland, ranked No. 5 in the region by The Times, forced 10 turnovers in the first quarter and took a 25-7 lead.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Buena 72, Agoura 37--Junior center Kelly Greathouse had 20 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks for host Buena, ranked first in The Times’ regional poll, in a nonleague opener.
Junior point guard Courtney Young had 19 points, six assists and three steals for the Bulldogs. Jamie Kogler scored 13 for Agoura.
Channel Islands 58, Valencia 56--Chenne Tuimoloau scored 19 points and Tonya Alvarez added 15 for the Raiders in a nonleague victory at Valencia.
Valerie Pina had 11 points and nine assists and Marissa Meadows had 10 points for Valencia.
Hart 56, Glendale 44--Kyli Hourigan had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Indians, who made 11 of 13 second-half free throws to win a nonleague opener at Glendale.
Chaminade 49, Calabasas 36--Julie Cichon scored 19 points and Cynthia Lai added 17 for the Eagles in a nonleague victory at Calabasas.
Royal 55, Charter Oak 45--Kristen Galbreath scored 21 points, Leticia Saldain had eight steals and the No. 9-ranked Highlanders (1-0) won in pool play of the Monrovia tournament.
El Camino Real 65, Kennedy 44--Christina Aguinaga scored 18 points and Karen Shun added 14 for the Conquistadores (1-0) at Kennedy (0-1).

Crescenta Valley 5, Burroughs 1--Lindon Pecorelli had four goals for the Falcons (1-0) at Crescenta Valley.
